The Communication and Neurodevelopment Lab (CaNDL) at Boston University is partnering with Mi Pequeña Academia to investigate bilingual language development. Our team is a group of researchers and clinicians at Boston University with the mission to identify factors that shape children’s speech, language, and literacy development. The lab’s vision is to contribute to this ongoing research, minimize barriers to communication and reading, and maximize access to effective treatment for children with and without developmental difficulties. We also aim to build strong community partnerships and develop more relevant research questions that address real-world issues as well as outcomes that support school teams and speech-language pathologists.
This year, we have an ongoing study with Spanish-English bilingual families with children ages 4-5 who speak/understand Spanish at home or at school with no history of hearing loss.
The study includes a robust bilingual language assessment protocol with standardized and informal language and learning measures. You can receive a children’s book in Spanish and up to $100 in gift cards for completing all parts of the study.
